NEWS We sample comments made by North Eastern leaders during first graduation of Garissa University Published 5 years ago on June 28, 2019 By Kulan Post GARISSA— A total of 346 students were Confered with degrees and diplomas at the first graduation ceremony of the Garissa University College. The institution overcame several hurdles, chiefly the terror attack in April 2015 when more than 147 people were killed in the compound by Al Shabab.North Eastern leaders then came out strongly to defend the university from closure.On Thursday, some of the leaders came back to talk about the achievement.“Garissa University has come a long way to reaching this far. Since inception, the university has faced enormous challenges of financial inadequacy and insecurity, yet it has remained resilient and eventual triumphant leading to this graduation. The worst threat, of course, was the terrorist attack on 2nd April, 2015 where 148 lives were lost.”~Garissa Township MP, Aden Duale during his speech as the chief Guest.“A milestone for Northern Kenya and a bullet into the eye of terrorism.
