Ogaden Supreme Council select Ahmed Muhumed for Wajir governor, Fatuma Gedi for Women rep

WAJIR—Ahmed Muhumed has been nominated to take on governor Ahmed Abdullahi in the August General Elections by the Ogaden Supreme Council at a meeting in Shaletee Mixed Secondary School.

The Council has also fronted Fatuma Gedi Ali as their preferred candidate to take on the incumbent Fatuma Ibrahim. Abdi Rashid Abdullahi was also selected to vie for Township ward representative.

The meeting was orgernised by the Ogaden Supreme Council, the highest decision making organ in Wajir South and the Shaletee outcome will shape Wajir County politics.

In attendance at the meeting are the past and present area political leaders among them Senator Abdurahmna Ali Hassan Olow, former advisor to Wajir governor Ahmed Abdullahi, Mr Arale and the serving legislator Abdullahi Diriye.

Also attending today’s meeting is the Sultan of Mohamed Subeer Mohamed Yare, Takaful boss Hassan  Bashir,  the national deputy chief Khadi Ali Soyaan, the Principal Secretary in the ministry of Tourism Fatuma Hirsi and the Regional Coordinator, North Eastern Mohamed Salah.

Over ten candidates have applied for the gubernatorial position and unspecified number of women have written to the OSC to be endorsed for the Women representative position.

Wajir South has the highest registered voters in Wajir County.
