WAJIR—Eldas Member of Parliament, Adan Keynan has blamed the government on the attack that killed 8 security officials in Kutulo, Wajir County.
The legislator said that Cabinet Secretaries for Internal and Defense are not doing enough to secure the residents of Wajir.
Keynan wants top security officials to ruthlessly deal with individuals causing insecurity in the county.
“The CSs incharge of internal security and defence, and the heads of all the security agencies should deal with these criminal elements ruthlessly,” Keynaan said.
Al shabaab claimed responsibility on Saturday’s attack in Bojigaras, Kutulo division in Wajir.
The former ODM MP challenged the State to clear Al shabaab elements and secure the borders to allow the citizens enjoy maximum security.
“Just like some of our neighbouring countries, we need to secure our borders and flash out these marauding ragtag Militia so that Kenyans can go about their businesses without fear of being attacked,” noted Mr. Keynan.
The officers who lost their lives on Saturday were AP Surgeant Abdiaziz Ali, AP Constable Abdullahi Hirab, AP Constable Thomas Mchere, AP constable Ali Mohammed Ali and AP Constable Ali Ahmed, who was the driver.
Speaking during their burial on Monday, Wajir county Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi said the officers sacrificed their lives for the residents of Wajir and they will forever be honored.
“The officers killed gave their lives for their country and the people of Wajir, and for peace; we honour their sacrifice and their valour,” Gedi noted.
Bojigaras Location is about 150 kilometres from Wajir town on the outskirts of Kutulo Division, which borders Mandera County and is prone to Shabaab attacks.
The militants took six AK47 and two G3 rifles, according to a report sent to Vigilance House, the police headquarters in Nairobi.
