NAIROBI—A Kenyan and two Ugandans have been arrested in connection with the murder of electoral commission ICT manager Chris Msando.

The three were arrested after Ugandan flying squad trailed and impounded a vehicle they were travelling in following a tip off on Monday.

The impounded vehicle, a Toyota Fortuner, with Ugandan registration number plates also raised eyebrows as police say it had Kenyan plates when it crossed the border at Busia.

According  to a report by Uganda’s Daily Monitor, Aswa River region police spokesperson Jimmy Okema confirmed that the arrests were related to Mr. Msando’s death.

“It’s believed that the vehicle could be for killers, but I still don’t have all the details, may be Interpol will give all the details. However this is the little information I have, the arrest is related to Msando’s death,” Mr Okema said.

The suspects were identified as Mathew Butia, a Kenyan and Joseph Okongo and Moses Goloba both Ugandans.

They are said to have been headed to South Sudan when they were intercepted in Northern Uganda.

A search of the Kenyan registration number showed the plates belongs to a Mercedes Benz registered in the name of a Kenyan politician.
