Girl, 10 herding goats defiled in Tarbaj, suspect at large

WAJIR—A10-year old girl herding goats was reportedly molested in Tarbaj early this week.

In a police report seen by Kulan Post, the girl was coming back from the grazing field when a high school student from a school in the area approached the girl in the outskirts of the town.

The defilement took place on the 26th of February and was reported at the local police station the following day at midday by the girl’s parent.

The girl has been examined and is in stable condition.

“Suspect is a secondary school student who is at large. Case under investigation,” Tarbaj OCPD said.

It’s the second case in just over a week in Wajir County.

In a well documented case in Habaswein, three men sedated a 15-year old school-going girl and reportedly raped her.

On Monday, the interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i warned local chiefs against facilitating rape and defilement cases.

“We will strip you of your role and arrest you,” he warned.
