NAIROBI—A program has been laid out by the officials of the opposition coalition for Tuesday’s planned meeting for ‘the people’s president,’ Raila Amolo Odinga’s swearing-in. The venue is to be unveiled on Sunday.
A member of the National Super Alliance Mr Eliud Owalo, explained to journalists that the programme will be to “inaugurate the leadership.”
“We are not turning back. Actually, Nasa’s vehicle has no reverse gear and from tomorrow, it will not have brakes,” he said at the coalition’s offices in Lavington, Nairobi.
He expressed confidence in their legal fraternity that he termed as robust and active in terms of interpretation of the law.
The programme will start with the singing of the National Anthem proceeded by prayers and a ceremony to install “the people’s leader” and then speeches.
There will be an agreement on “the people’s assembly” followed by speeches from representatives from the counties, an agreement on the resolutions made and then the event will end.
Attorney General, Prof Githu Muigai on Thursday said the swearing-in of Mr.Odinga would be an illegality attracting charges of treason.
According to a post on social media by Gatundu South Mp Moses Kuria, the swearing-in will be conducted by Justice Richard Otieno Kwach at Moi Stadium in Kisumu on Jamhuri Day.
