NAIROBI—Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru has passed on on Tuesday morning following a tragic road crash at Kabati along the Thika-Sagana highway in Murang’a County.

The governor was heading to the capital for talk shows with a vernacular radio and TV accompanied by his bodyguard and driver.
Nyeri County Assembly Speaker John Kaguchia had earlier confirmed that the Governor, his driver and bodyguard suffered serious injuries after the early morning accident and were undergoing treatment.
He succumbed to his injuries on arrival to Thika Level 5 Hospital for emergency treatment.
Murang’a County Commissioner John Elung’ata has confirmed the death of Dr Gakuru, terming Kabati as a black spot where most motorists lose control whenever it rains.
