Mombasa—Opposition leader Raila Odinga has called on the Israeli PM, Benjamin Netanyahu to “stop the genocide ans slaughter of Arab children in Gaza” while urging President Ruto not to be “misled to condemn your own brothers and sisters in Palestine.”
Raila made the remarks during a Luo cultural gala at the coastal city of Mombasa, flanked by the county governor, Abdullswamad Sheriff Nassir elders.
Two weeks ago, Raila made similar remarks saying “world leaders must not take sides in the Israeli-Hamas war”, but strive to seek a two-state solution. On the 7th of October when Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel, President Ruto made a statement—the first by an African leader—where he termed the Palestinian fighters as “terrorist.” He later recanted his position during a technology conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
