GARISSA— Body of a 10- year old boy was retrived in a newly constructed Garissa sewerage project yesterday evening at Bol Argi location.
Roble Hassan Gure who was looking after the family livestock slipped into the pod on Tuesday while trying to quench his thirst after he was allegedly chased away by a farmer in the area.
Sadiq who is an uncle to the deceased said someone must take responsibility of their lose.
Residents through their community elder blamed the Nothern Water Service Board for failing to safeguard the pod and also provide piped water.
“The deceased being a young boy was unaware of the dangers he was subjecting himself to sneak into the pod to quench his thirst. This is due to lack of safe drinking water,” said Aden.
“We are condemning the incident with the strongest term possible, and all Northern Water Service Board employees should resign” he added.
On his part, the Board chairman Abdikadir Osman defended the company of any wrong-doing adding that the boy was trying to swim since his clothes were discovered next to the sewage pod by the residents.
“We are leaving the matter at the hand of the police for further investigation” he said.
However Garissa O.C.P.D
confirmed the incident and investigation are currently on going.
Roble Hassan gure, the deceased was laid to rest in accordance to Islamic burial rites.
