GARISSA—Clinical Officers in Garissa have boycotted work Monday morning saying the void created by the striking nurses has put them under pressure
They said they have joined their colleague nurses in the strike.

At Garissa Referral Hospital, the most affected units are the operating theatres, emergency unit, and the maternity wing that have being operating partially since the nurses strike begun four months ago.

According to one of the clinical officer who spoke to Kulan Post in confidence, he said the strike will severely harm the public if the two parties won’t meet to resolve the strike.

“The hospital will face a major blow in case of emergencies since the hospital relied on the 21 clinical officers,” he said.

Garissa referral hospital is the only health facility of it’s kind across the county and the news of the boycott could mean dismissed service to the hundreds of patients who can’t afford private services.

Salah Daqane the newly appointed CEO of the hospital declined to address the media over the crisis.

He said he would have to walk back home and wait for an Godly intervention.
