Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku.

Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku, has extended contracts for 11 chief officers by three months contrary to what the other new governors have done.

In most other counties with newly elected governors, they have either suspended or sacked officials who served under their predecessors.

“We are one county and one people, we cant bring the county operations to a halt all over a sudden, we are going to advertise for those positions and as the process continues this will be done in line with the recruitment law,” said Governor Ole Lenku.

Speaking at a meeting with the budget making department at the county government, Ole Lenku said key offices cannot remain vacant until the process of advertisement, vetting and recruitment takes place.

“We need to continue serving the public for better service delivery, reasons why I have asked for those officers to continue with their service,” he stated.

The former security cabinet secretary also paved way for the chief officers to apply for those positions once advertised.
