NAIROBI—Fatuma Ibrahim who was attacked by her husband with a Somali knife has been discharged from the hospital, a statement by the hospital has said.
Fatuma said she was ready to go home and reunite with her family. She asked the government to protect her against her husband, Mohamed Deeq who has since been arraigned at a Wajir court where he pleaded innocent.
Fatuma thanked Kenyans for their support, saying she felt humbled by the gesture. Kenyans on Twitter started a campaign immediately after it was reported that local doctors did not have the facility to remove the knife that was lodged on her cheek for more than 12 hours. The hashtag was started to campaign for her airlift to Nairobi after it emerged that she did not have a national Identity card to enable her fly to Nairobi’s Kenyatta National Hospital.
A total of 95,000 hospital bill was cleared by Wajir Women Rep Hon Fatuma and Wajir West Mp Hon Abdikadir Ore.
