WAJIR—President Uhuru Kenyatta will visit Narok and Wajir counties from Friday as part of his countrywide tours focused on development, a State House statement has said.

In his Narok visit, the president will launch several government projects among them water and a specialised medical facility  at Trans-Mara West sub-county hospital and thereafter open a the Kilgoris Town main market before addressing residents. The president will also lay the foundation for Dikkir Level 4 Hospital.

In the afternoon, the president will commission the Narok Town Water Supply as well as medical equipment for Narok Sub County Hospital.

The president will end his visit to Narok by launching the tarmacking of the Narok-Sekenani Gate road and address resident in public rally.

In Wajir, however, President Kenyatta will not commission any government project nor deliver any pledges but will address the public at Wajir Stadium.

The pre-visit statement has Wajir residents questioning the reason of the president’s visit coming at a time when the region is facing severe drought and hunger.

“Look at this contrasting scenarios here,” Ahmed Diriye, a resident said on Facebook after sharing the president’s itinerary.

“In one place, the president is undertaking health, water and road projects while in Wajir County he is going there to inspect non-existent projects and interact with the people while offering nothing,” he added.
