Refugee operations remain paralyzed for the fourth day following protest by host community against United Nations High commission for Refugees, demanding several issues to be addressed.

The press has learnt that, with key food programs that should have started on December 1st to December 8th  have also been paralyzed due to lack of security  for UNHCR and thus no operations going on until security is assured.

Sources within the agency prevail that, the food program set aside for early December was to Kick off in Hagadera and Ifo and later make a stop over at Dagahaley but that did not happen as the operation was interrupted.

Last Thursday, hundreds of residents waving placards lit born fires at the entrance of UNHCR headquarters in Daadab blocking vehicles going in and out of the camps, they vowed to continue with their protest until their demands are met.

However a section of elders together with their leaders  have yesterday held press conference at one of Garissa hotels  said that they will not allow the operations to be conducted by UNHCR and vowed to disrupt any activity which is  headed by Jean Bosco Rushasti  and his assistant Evana Unluova until the duo vacate their offices .

The elders accused the two saying that there is a lot of anarchy and political influence in running the agency.

Jean Bosco took office in December 2016 as head of operations from Ahmad Baba Fall. The elders said that Ahmad Baba Fall was better off.

The elders were Led by Damajale MCA Diriye Abdi, they further pointed fingers to the head of operations Jean Bosco for lack of repect to the host community.

On his part the UNHCR  head of operation said he had nothing to do with the demos saying all that was going on was influenced by politics naming area MP Mohamed Dahiye as being behind all the demos.

Harun Mohamed, one of the elders said,” for normalcy to be regained Jean Bosco must vacate the office.”

Last week , UNCHR gave notice of termination of employment to more than 100 youth from the host community.
