WAJIR—A youth leader in Wajir West says he will not back Wajir governor in the upcoming elections, maintaining that the county chief reneged on pledges he made to the area youths ahead of the 2013 elections.

Abdijabar Mohamed said the governor turned a deaf ear on the pleas of the Wajir West youths. He even accused governor Ahmed Abdullahi of intimidating youths in the area with police arrests.

“He recently harassed and jailed an Arbajahan youth after he raised queries over tender award process,” Abdijabar said.

He said the governor lacks the charisma to lead and could not be trusted with a second term.

“I plead with the Council of Elders in Wajir West to make urgent solution for better alternative,” he noted.

He added that, “The governor has lost the support of all the six sub counties and failed to maintain the support and there is no single political representative on his side.”
