NAIROBI— A suspect bag that appeared to contain an explosives have been discovered in Nairobi’s Eastleigh estate, a local police boss has said.
A team of bomb experts from the Kenyan police have been deployed to asses and detonate the device, he added.
Starehe Criminal Inspectorate Department (CID) boss, Kiberenge Seroney said the suspect-looking bag was dropped by a woman who fled after she was ordered to stop by police on patrol Midnight Tuesday.
During a security briefing Tuesday morning, Seroney said the bag was dropped along the 11th Street, Second Avenue.
“A team of bomb experts have already arrived at the scene where they are examining the metallic device suspected to be an IED,” the CID boss said.
More to come as and when we receive the result of the device assessment by the bomb experts.
