GARISSA—Former Garissa governor Nadhif Jamaa has reportedly agreed to drop the petition against his successor.

In a string of  meeting with the Awlihan elders in Garissa town since last week, governor Ali Bunow said the elders vowed to talk to Nadhif to end the court process challenging his victory in the August polls.

Led by the Sultan of the Awlihan clan, Hamud Sheikh and Ali Ethiopia said the resources of the county was enough for all the residents.

”We are brothers: the governor and his predecessor are both our sons,” the elders said at the end of the meeting while addressing the press and flanked by governor Ali Bunow.

”After much deliberations among the community leadership, the respectable elders from Aulyahan clan led by Sultan Hamud have resolved to withdraw the gubernatorial petition currently in court as a way of bringing the desired peace, love and unity among our resident,” governor Ali Bunow said after the engagement seeking to withdraw the case.

Former governor, Nadhif Jama’a did not respond to request for comment but people privy to his affairs told Kulan Post that he did not object to the initial request to drop the case.
