NAIROBI—Four members of parliaments among the candidates sitting for this year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
The four are said to be from Uasin Gishu and Baringo counties. It was not possible to immediately reveal the identity of the four.
Director of the Acacia Adult Education School Benjamin Cheboi on Monday said that the four legislators were registered under adult education and are among the 25 adult who are sitting for the exams.
“We registered a total of 25 candidates under the adult education programs and we also have leaders, including sitting MPs, who are writing the KCSE exams,” he said.
“The examination centers for private students are not located in the same place with the regular students writing their final exams,” Cheboi told the Star.
It has been speculated the four legislator doing the exam hail from the counties they are writing the exams at.
KCSE exams are under progress with heavy security in order to curb cheating.
The education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’I has been visiting schools to monitor exams with thousands of other exam body officials dispatched across the country.
Close to 600,000 candidates are sitting for the 2016 national exam which is the highest number ever.
