GARISSA—Former deputy speaker in the last National Assembly and Garissa Township hopeful Farah Maalim said he would send the current constituency legislator Aden Duale home.

He said Duale has not done much for the people of Garissa Township in the first three years at the helm.

“We are aware of people who have been away from the town until when we decided to change something about it,” Farah said at Madina neighbourhood in Garissa Town.

He called on the voters to trust him with the seat, saying he was focus on development rather than public gimmick.

“We all agree that (Garissa Township) has not seen much development as you had anticipated. Let’s us unite and change how we do business,” he urged.

As Farah Maalim campaigned across Garissa town, Duale was in Habaswein in Wajir County to take part in a fund-drive for a local madrassa.

He said he would retain his seat and unseat the sitting Garissa County governor, Nathif Jama.

Nathif and Duale have lately been involved in public spat over the water crisis in Garissa town and the performance of the county government since Nathif took power in 2013.

Aden Duale is engineering a political maneuver to unseat Nathif Jama while Nathif insists he would see to the election of Farah as the Garissa Township member of parliament.

” I will use my power and wealth to have (Ali) Bunow as the next governor of Garissa County,” Duale has previously said in a secretly recorded video while at Dakaburi in Garissa.
