NAIROBI—The police has released the identities of the people who were killed and injured in the Friday landmine blast at Lafey, Mandera County.

In a press statement late Friday, the Inspector-General said the ill-fated vehicle had 15 passengers on board including a chief and National Police Service Reservist who were returning from recruitment centre to their home in Lafey.

“Our prayers and thoughts goes to the families of the deceased. We also wish quick recovery to the injured,” the statement said in part.

The chief of Dabacity, Yunis Haji Mohamed, the driver Ibrahim Hillow, Hassan Ibrahim and Aisha Ahmed died in the attack.

The injured were taken to the Lafey sub-county hospital.

1.Omar Abdulahi Haji—56yrs((sustained fractured limbs both.)
2. Hassan Mohammed Hussein—44yrs, deep cut on the head, and bruises left limb.
3. Abdi Aden -35 yrs— deep cut on the forehead
4. Mohammed Hussein—23yrs, on the forehead and chest.
5. Ibrahim Mohammed—24yrs injuries on the forehead.
6. Fauzia Mohammad—11yrs, deep cut on the back of the head.
7. Makai Abdi Ibrahim—51yrs, injuries on the forehead.
8. Ali Noor Mohammed—27yrs, back injuries.
9. Isaack Abdulahi—35yrs Right jaw and chest.
10. Hassan Hussein Ali—26yrs, back and head
11.Ibrahim Mohamud —24 yrs, cut on the forehead.

The vehicle, KAZ 143B was coming from Elwak when it ran over the IED at Sheikh Barrow.

The police did nothing to instill hope in the face of terror that is ravaging the region.
