NAIROBI— The incumbent Kamukunji member of parliament Yusuf Hassan could retain his Jubilee ticket after it emerged that he’s the leading candidate in the just concluded party primaries.

According to preliminary results, Yusuf leads in 12 out of the 13 polling centres in the area with Kiambiu voting more for his arch rival for the ticket, Simon Mbugua. Mbugua leads with 180 votes in Kiumbiu while Yusuf leads in the other 12 centres.

Ayub Abdikadir, reporting for Kulan Post at Bahati Primary in Eastleigh South ward says the final result would favour the incumbent.

“Most supporters of Mbugua have already left the tallying area as counting comes to a close,” he said.

In Nairobi gubernatorial race for Jubilee tickets, Senator Sonko leads with 13, 000 votes followed in distance by Peter Keneth who ganered 6,036. Margaret Wanjiru has 428 votes.

Peter Keneth has disputed the process saying most of the voters were not Jubilee party members.
