KERICHO—Voters at the Waldai Ward in Kericho County made history Wednesday after they elected a cook at the Sosiot Secondary School in Belgut as their preferred Jubilee candidate for the August polls.

Daniel Ng’etich is set to unseat Kipkoech Too who came into power in the 2013 elections.

Ng’etich could not believe his ears when he heard that he was named the most popular candidate for the Jubilee party ticket at Waldai ward. He was not spendthrift in his campaigns unlike his competitors who criss-crossed the ward in search of voters.

“I am very happy that the people have elected me and I don’t think I will disappoint,” Ng’etich said.

Meanwhile, residents of Kipchebor ward in Kericho Town, Kericho County elected Eric Bett, a watchman for the Jubilee party ticket. The vote was meant to serve as a protest vote to challenge Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter who crowned himself as the area king-maker.
