WAJIR—A section of clan elders in Elders constituency have asked Ahmed Boray Arale to give up his bid to replace Adan Keynan in the August elections.
In return, the elders pledged that they would back him for the seat in 2022 elections.
Speaking in Eldas town after they held a closed door meeting, the Jirow family resolved to ask Ahmed not to compete with the incumbent, Adan Keynan.
“We are not going to have a candidate from our family for the Eldas parliamentary seat,” The Ugas of the Jirow family Sheikh Yussuf said.
In a family get-together in Eldas last month, section of professionals and clan Elders from the Jibrail sub-clan in Wajir County endorsed Ahmed Boray to replace Adan Keynan.
In a statement sent to Kulan Post on the 28th of January, Ahmed Boray campaign team vowed that they would challenge Adan Keynan for the Jubilee party tickets.
However, a meeting by the elders has quashed their challenge.
“Ahmed Boray is our son and we are going to pay him back for the obedience he will show,” former Councillor Adow Daud said.
The elders said that the Family would not have a candidate for the Eldas parliamentary seat in the General Elections.
