Football players in Wajir hopeful after one of their own was signed by a team in the Kenya Premier League

A football players spotted by the head coach of the Kenya national soccer team Haraambee Stars has been signed by a listed team in the Kenyan Premier League.

Abdiqaliq Mohamed Elmoge, who was spotted by coach Stanley Okumbi during the Siyat Tournament in Wajir last year was on Saturday signed by Ushuru football club on a three year contract.

He was presented to the media at the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi. Abdiqalik was officially received by the head coach of Ushuru football club Mr Kenneth Kenyatta.

Siyat Hassan who orgernised the Siyat Tournament in Wajir on November last year urged the youth to actively participate in sports and confidently display their talents.

“I encourage all the youths to take part and participate in such activities because talent pays and one has to try it out for a better future,” Siyat said.

Before he was spotted by coach Stanley for the Harambee stars U-20, Abdiqaliq played for the Al Hilal football club in Wajir.

On his part, Abdiqaliq thanked Ushuru FC and Siyat Hassan for identifying his talent.

“Thank you Siyat (for) not only my talent was identified during your much by Harambee stars coach but you have been lobbying for me all through to get a club to play for, I wouldn’t have reached this far if not you,” he said.
