Five people were killed in Wajir over the last two days.

Three were shot dead in Wajir while two other killed in Lakole location along the border between Wajir North and Eldas.

AT LEAST THREE people were yesterday evening shot dead by unknown gunmen in Wajir. The incident happened at 8 PM new Samad Hospital. The gunmen went to the house of a chief, Chief Yahya and shot a woman at his homestead at the time of the incident. The woman, who is said to have been his in-law, was shot after she lerted him. They also shot dead two men whose identity has not been established yet.
Confirming the incident, Wajir County Police Commander Samuel Mukindia said police have launched investigation into the matter.
Wajir West member of the National Assembly said the incident came at a time when the town was under dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed in April after the Garissa University attack, saying the curfew was not serving its pupose.
The target chief is said to have scaled the wall at his home after he was alerted by the woman who was shot dead.
“Am told they knocked the door and asked for the chief. He jumped after (he was) alerted. They killed her,” the MP tweeted.
Meanwhile, TWO PEOPLE were Friday killed at a renewed clan clashes at Lakole location along the border between Eldas and Wajir North, Wajir County Police Commander Samuel Mukindia confirmed. Armed men raided the village three days after violence broke out in the region over border dispute pitting the clans of Ajuran and Degodia.
