NAIROBI—Garissa Member of Parliament and house Majority leader, Aden Duale, said that he does not need the Sh.3 million awarded to him by the high court after his elecvtion was upheld.

The court awarded 6 million as the petition cost to be shared equally between him and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Comission.

Duale lamented that the court has slapped petitioners with heavy costs and he did not wish to receive the money from the former deputy speaker of the National Assembly.

“Mr speaker, the courts have punished petition losers heavily, I do not wish to receive any money from Farah maalim,” Duale said while addressing the parliament.

“I believe in creating or living in harmony between communities,” Aden Duale added.

The Majority leader is serving his third term as the Garissa Member of parliament after defeating Ali Bunow Korane, the current Garissa governor, during his first election to the August House.

Farah Maalim has however moved to court of appeal to try and overturn the decision of the high court that upheld Duale’s  8th August  election win.

Yusuf Haji, the Garissa county senator has urged the former Lagdera Member of Parliament not to waste his time by appealing the decision as the appeal court will upheld the high courts’ decision.
