NAIROBI—A group of residents from Mandera North now want the area Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Committee to furnish them with records on the implementation of the fund since 2017.

Through Kirika and Company Advocates, Abass Sheikh Abdinoor and other petitioners sought to be furnished with the manner and operation of the funds, the contracts dished as well as the mode and the list of the bursary beneficiaries between 2017/18 to 2022/23 financial year.

The request for the information was submitted for response to the area MP, Bashir Abdullahi, the CDF main office in Nairobi and the CDF Committee at the Constituency level but two weeks later, none of the officials responded to the request.

“We are seeking the necessary data because we believe there’s a glaring lack of transparency and openess in the way it was managed,” the petitioners argued.

The aggrieved residents are now set to seek redress at the High Court in a bid to compel the relevant officials to make the much-needed information accessible
