Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i

NAIROBI—Parts of Garissa, Tana River and Lamu counties have been put under dusk to dawn curfew following spate of cross border attacks.

Hulugho Border Point, Galmagala, Sangailu, Ijara and Masalani in Garissa County will be under curfew effective 6:30pm Sunday, 9th of June, 2017.

Bondei, Milimani, Baurre, Basuba, Mangai, Mararani, Hola, Garsen, Kipina, Kiunga and Ishakanil/Dar Esalam have also been listed as parts of the area where the curfew will affect.

The curfew will last for three months; ending on the 9 of October, 2017.

”The orders shall apply during the hours of darkness, between the period between 6:30 in the evening and 6:30 in the morning,” a special gazette notice said in part.

The notice was released by the acting Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Co-ordination of National Governance, Fred Matiang’i.

It added that: ”Every person who resides within this sub-counties shall except under in accordance with the terms and conditions

of a written permit granted by the respective deputy county commissioner of the affected areas, remain indoors at the premises at which they reside or at such other premises as may be authorized.”

Dr Matiang’i was appointed acting Cabinet Secretary Saturday afternoon following the sudden demise of the late CS Nkaissery at Karen Hospital.
