KAKAMEGA—Two students were brought before the court on Friday in Kakamega, charged with engaging in sex and other inappropriate acts considering they were minors.

The two minors—16-year old girl and boy, 17—were alleged to have committed the crime between May 9, 2017 and May 17, 2017 in Ikonyero village Lurambi sub-county.

The Form Three girl pleaded guilty before Magistrate Bildad Ochieng’ while the Form Two boy insisted that he was innocent and requested to be given a reasonable bond term claiming that he will miss classes. The girl also requested the same saying her education will be negatively affected.

The girl’s father claimed to have lost sight of his daughter before schools opened and was shocked when she was found in the boy’s premises.

“I was informed by a friend that he spotted my daughter in a certain neighborhood and when we went there at night, there she was in the boy’s room” said the father.

The boy was later granted Sh100, 000 bond and surety of similar amount.

They will be detained in juvenile remand until May 31 when their case will be mentioned.
