GARISSA—The Little private high school which is located in a remote area in Garissa, Al-Azar became the face of the county by producing excellent results in this year’s KCSE which was announced on Wednesday by education cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i.

Abdi Bare , The 18 year old who comes from the expansive Daadab refugee camp scored B+ , a result that was never expected by anyone from the region.

The school manager, Ahmed Sambur, couldn’t hide his joy and congratulated Abdi, saying the boy was hard working and God fearing.

Abdi struggled to raise fees and at one point was forced to drop out of school.

His father lives in Hagadera while his mother passed on some years back.His school fees was being paid by well-wishers.

His grandmother whom he was staying with could not believe her grandson received good results.

The school principal appealed with stakeholders and the local leadership to give support to Abdi so that he could further his studies at the university level. He wants to pursue medicine.

“The hardship I went through and the support I was getting from each and everybody contributed to my success,”Abdi said.

Abdi  urged his peers  to focus in their education  and not to indulge in anything that is harmful towards them or their studies.

On his part, Aynale Abdi from the same school scored B- and thanked everybody that contributed to his success.

Al-Azar school also performed well in this year’s  KCPE results that was released few  weeks ago.

However , no school in  North Eastern region was listed among the top 100 countrywide.
