Garissa Governor Nathif Jama’a Monday announced changes to the ministries in his County, changes which he said were aimed at improving and enhancing service delivery to the Garissa residents.

Speaking while announcing the changes, Governor Nathif remarked, “Today’s changes within our ministerial dockets and my Executive Committee leadership will ensure optimization and acceleration of service provision to (Garissa residents).”

He added that the changes were necessary due to a stall in operations of three key portfolios namely trade, environment and water where service delivery had been hampered since the executive members heading the ministries had moved to court challenging their sacking by the governor leading to a complete paralysis of operations in the ministries.

The water portfolio has now been merged with environment and natural resources and will be headed by Mohamed Aden Noor who takes over from education.
Trade and Commerce docket has been put under the finance ministry headed by Abdihakim Sheikh Dayib.

At the same time, Safia Sheikh Omar becomes the new executive member incharge of education, public service and information moving over from the agriculture, fisheries and irrigation docket which has now been merged with the livestock docket under Hajir Mohamed Dahiye.

Governor Nathif reminded Garissa residents that his government was committed to delivering services based on the pillars of Health, Water and Sanitation; Transport, Housing and Infrastructure; Security & Inter-ethnic Relations; Education & Youth Development; Enterprise Development & Employment creation; Needs & Rights of Women; Women & Persons with disability and Management of the county’s resources.
