Khadis to face vetting

The Judges and Magistrate vetting Board has announced a new round of vetting of judicial officers which will include evaluation of Kadhis.

In a public notice, the board chief executive officers Reuben Chirchir listed a number of matters to be scrutinized which will include constitutional criteria for the appointment, past work records and pending or concluded criminal cases.

Those to be vetted are the Chief Kadhi Sheikh Ahmed Muhdhar and his deputy Sheikh Rashid Ali Omar as well as the two principal Kadhis Sheikh Sukyan Hassan Omar and Sheikh Abdulhalim Hussein Athman.

The Kadhis to be vetted include Sheikh Salim Muhammad Salim who is stationed at Malindi, Talib Bwana Muhammad from Kilifi, Zahran Muhammad of Eldoret, Muhammad Abdallah Mahmoud, the Kadhi of Marsabit, and Muhammad Sheikh Hassan who serves Garissa.

Also to be vetted will be Sheikh JumaKhamisiTsanuo, the Kadhi of Kajiado, Muhammad Abdallah Kutwa who is based in Nyeri and Said HamisBedzenga the Kadhi of Kwale.

In all 72 judicial officers who include chief magistrates, senior magistrates and Kadhis will be vetted.
The Board has invited the public and institutions to participate by submitting relevant information which may assist in the vetting process.
Submissions to be received by the Secretariat at Anniversary Towers in Nairobi by 26thAugust 2015. They can also be forwarded to P. O. box 103732-00101 Nairobi or through email: info@jmvb.or.ke.
