Teenager injured during Shabab raid dies while awaiting Amref airlift to Kenyatta Hospital

injuredMANDERA—A teenager who sustained gun injury to the head during Al Shabab raid at Mandera on Wednesday has succumbed to the injuries on Friday afternoon.

Speaking to the press in Mandera, Arabia MCA Abdullahi Abdirahman reported that his cousin—15-year old Osman Abdi Abdille—lost his life while awaiting Amref airlift to Kenyatta referral hospital.

Abdirahman, who serves in the Health Committee at the local county assembly said he was pained by the slow application of the of the airlift by the Mandera County Referral Hospital.

Mandera county administration is in pact with Amref to airlift patients in need of special treatment to the national referral hospitals in Nairobi.

The Lafey Primary School pupil was injured in the attack after he was hit by stray bullet that went through his head.

The attackers made away with four BVR kits belonging to the IEBC that were stored at the camp, police vehicle, three rifles—two that belong to the Kenya Police Reservists and one to an AP officer—and a motorcycle.
The attackers also left the local communication mast paralyzed to disrupt communication between the different security agencies in the area.
Mr Oronyi said a student was injured in the attack after he was hit by stray bullet that went through his head.
“The injured student was admitted to Mandera County Referral Hospital in critical condition,” he said.
