WAJIR—Wajir governor Ahmed Abdullahi has returned to the county headquarters at the end of his three-day meet-the-people tour across Wajir North. He hailed the tour as successful and assuring.

In his first stopover at Buna sub-county, the governor thanked the locals for the support they rendered him and assured that he would continue working with the community leaders to promote good governance and deliver on more development initiatives.

“Today I am here to unveil the Buna box culvert which now prevents the town from being cut off during the rains,” Ahmed said.

He later proceeded to Malkagufu where he held a public meeting.

At Korondile and Ogomdi in his second day of the tour, Ahmed orgernised a meeting with the disables.

“I also discussed the initiation of more development projects the community needs with the area religious leaders, clan elders and youths groups,” Governor Ahmed said.

At Watiti One and Watiti Two, Bute, Gurar and Abula the area residents met the visiting convoy on the outskirts on it’s way in ahead of an endorsement drive.

“My sincere gratitude and appreciation for the warm reception and the unwavering support,” Ahmed said at Bute.

He engaged the locals on the projects his administration launched at the area and how it had an impacted on their lives. “We discussed the implemented projects and other areas they wish to be covered,” the governor said.

In the three days Governor Ahmed spent at the constituency, he maintained the call to peaceful co-existence, a rally more significant to the locals than the upcoming elections.

On January last year, Wajir North legislator Ibrahim Saney said the inter-clan clashes along the borders of Eldas and Wajir North constituencies have left scores dead and several others injured.

Mr Saney threatened to lead Wajir North locals in seeking refuge in Ethiopia should the government fail to stop the clashes.

Armed clan men from Eldas and Wajir North have clashed late last year over border dispute. The dispute, the locals say, was instigated by a politician from the area.

“Reject leaders who perpetuate chaos and clan conflicts to ascend to leadership positions,” Ahmed urged the locals.

The tour ended at Qudama, Batalu and Ajawa.
