NAIROBI—The Kitui East member of Parliament is using government machineries to evict Somali herders from the region.
The first-time MP said move was a victory.
“Good Lord, allow me to thank the Deputy County Commissioner, Mutitu Subcounty and his security team for the prompt action,” he said.
“The Somali herders begun their exodus from Kitui East yesterday,” he added in Facebook post to his page.
The legislator said he continuously conduct routine inspection to see his plans of evicting the herders.
“I will be doing an inspection of the situation after the laps of the 10 days altimatum after which the revival of the Nziu and Aithi Ranches will commence,” Mbadi said.
Last week, the legislator used ethically charged statement to describe the Somali community in the areas.
He said he would cause harm if the herders would not move out. He was in the presence of police officers while making the statement.
In response to queries by Kulan Post, the National Cohesion and Integration Commission maintained that, “Everyone can work and live anywhere in Kenya within the confines of the law.”
The authorities have not preferred charged against the MP.
