A new survey conducted by mzalendo.com has revealed that most of the 349 legislators in the 12th parliament are yet to make their maiden speech in the August house with only seven MPs spotted as the most consistent and active in debates taking place on the floor of the House.

According to finding the following MPs have been found to be more active and serious in the floor of the house, the MPs are, Majority leader Aden Duale, Minority leader John Mbadi, Chris Wamalwa(Kiminini), James Nyikal(Seme), Makali Mulu(Kitui Central), Kimani Ichungwa(Kikuyu),and Opiyo Wandayi(Ugunja).

Only Aden Duale makes the cut of over the 15 legislators elected from North Eastern counties.

Confirming the details of the survey, Mr Justin Muturi, the National Assembly speaker  endorsed the findings stating that he misses the era of great debaters in parliament.

“You can tell members who don’t read bills, petitions, and reports among others. They are hardly in the House and they don’t contribute to issues,” stated Muturi.

“Over nine months down the line, a majority of them have no clue how they are required to behave in the Chambers and even at the Committee level,” Muturi added.

So far the 12th parliament members have passed 16 Bills in nine months and President Uhuru Kenyatta has assented 6 in to law.
