NAIROBI—The Nine selected Cabinet Secretaries following their appointment by President Uhuru Kenyatta, were sworn-in early on Friday.
The President witnessed the ceremony.
The Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs Cabinet Secretary Margaret Kobia was the first to lift the Bible, sign documents and shake Uhuru’s hand.
“I … will commit to my secrecy as a Cabinet Secretary… I will perform the functions of my office to the best of my ability…so help me God…” she vowed
Then came Munyes, Juma, Tobiko, Karoney, Munya, Yattani, Achesa and Chelugui in that order.
The nine new Cabinet secretaries were sworn in at State House in the presence of President Uhuru Kenyatta are:
- Monica Juma – Foreign Affairs
- Margaret Kobia – Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs
- John Munyes – Petroleum and Mining
- Farida Karoney – Lands
- Simon Chelgui – Water
- Peter Munya – East African Community
- Keriako Tobiko – Environment
- Rashid Mohammed – Sports
- Ukur Yattani – Labour
