Kulan PostISIOLO—An employee in Isiolo County was laid off for misusing government property for his own personal gain.
The county worker who was an ambulance driver was reported to having misused the vehicle and disregarding the set rules.
Isiolo county governor Hon. Dr Mohamed Kuti sacked the driver for allegedly transporting timber with an ambulance vehicle and also charging patients before taking them to hospitals or medical facilities.
“We will ensure all government properties are intact and an end to such incidents. All residents will be allowed to access the services freely “assured the governor.
The incident was revealed by a law abiding citizen who took a picture of the ambulance vehicle being loaded with timber for transport. He shared the picture on social media raising concern of misuse of the government vehicle.
The driver also never kept a proper and clean work ticket as required in all government vehicles whenever they are on motion.
The governor pointed out that the same ambulance driver was incompetent and unqualified to hold that position and his employement might been on tribal basis.
“We will not allow the employment of drivers as casuals since we need competent ones,” added the county governor.
He directed that all government vehicles should maintain a clear work ticket indicating where they are supposed to be at all times to ensure they are not missused.
Kuti also encouraged the resident to be the watchdog of the county and to follow in the footsteps of the person who informed the county of the rogue driver.
This he said will enable his government deliver on its campaign pledges, including ruthlessly fighting massive corruption that has made the county less attractive as an investment destination.
