GARISSA—Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji has called on the government to review and evaluate security forces strategies to combat terrorists in the North Eastern region.

Addressing the press at Parliament buildings, Nairobi on Tuesday the legislator noted that terror attacks remains a serious threat to development especially in Northern Kenya.

“We shall not leave a room to Al-Shabaab to feel like they are winning.” Said Haji

Weighing into the discussion of what Kenya is doing wrong in fighting terrorism, the senator noted that security forces need to think like the militia and study their strategy that keeps changing over time.

“Kenya security agencies must now device new methods of combating terrorists and guarantee our people security.” The Jubilee senator stated.

He condemned the last week attack on Qarsa primary school in Wajir County that left two teachers dead.

Haji highlighted this as an issue that was paralyzing education in North Eastern as non-local teachers were fleeing these regions fearing for their lives.

“It’s not proper to have generation of uneducated youth and everything must be done to make sure that children get their education.” Said the legislator.

Senator Haji urged that human intelligence is superior to that of technology and security forces needs to work with the local people to get information.

He also appealed to the locals to volunteer information as the culprits are within the people and this will go a long way in taming terrorism.

He finally called on the government to also increase security surveillance in this terror prone regions.
