WAJIR—Eldas constituency member of parliament, Adan Keynan has condemned the Teachers Service Commission’s failure to send teachers back to Wajir County.

Following an attack by suspected Al Shabaab that killed two, TSC transferred teachers from the county without notice. Section of the remaining teachers posted along the border with Somalia moved to Nairobi to demand transfer to other parts of the country.

“Because of an attack by Al Shabaab that resulted the death of two teachers, TSC decided to transfer all non-local teachers. TSC has decided to deprive our children their constitutional right to education,” Keynan said.

“Providing security is the role of the government, insecurity is in every country in the world, just the other day, 16 children were killed in the United States of America,” the MP added.

The former ODM MP said TSC would bear the brunt the aftermath of the mass transfer, urging the Commission’s leadership to re-post the teachers.

“TSC has not done a good thing, in fact, what they have done is worse than what Al-Shabaab did because Al-Shabaab killed only two teachers but TSC is wasting away the lives of thousands and thousands of students,” Mr. Keynan said.

On Thursday, students in Wajir County took to the streets demanding the sacking of top TSC officials.
