Wajir MCA’s walk out on governor over interference with assembly business

NAIROBI— Over 30 Wajir County assembly members have walked out of a meeting with the governor, Mohamed Abdi at a Mombasa hotel where the two arms of the local government are meeting to work out their differences and see to the passing of a Supplementary Budget.

In a show of unity and expression of disapproval over the executive’s alleged involvement in the election of the board of county assembly, the MCA ‘s said they would not be cowed to vote for the Tarbaj MCA, Issa Garore.

“The Governor and his company insisted that the majority (of the board members) must go to Tarbaj (Constituency) contrary to the members resolution that it goes to Tulatula MCA who garnered a whooping 22 votes out of possible 33,” Mr Danan, an MCA who walked out of if the botched meeting said.

The executive had also planned to lobby for approval of supplementary budget regarding re-appropriation of budgets in some sectors.

“Reports indicates this monies have already been utilized under a different line item,” he added.
