‘General’ Miguna Miguna reacts to his deportation

NAIROBI—The National Resistance Movement (NRM) ‘general’ Miguna Miguna said that his plans to return to Kenya are ongoing after he was deported to Canada not long ago since he was considered unacceptable.

The impulsive lawyer who took a hand in the ‘swearing-in’ of opposition leader Raila Odinga as the people’s president on 30th January , also said that not even President Uhuru would prevent him from coming back home to continue with his support for electoral justice in an interview with Nation in Canada over the weekend.

He added, “I’ve just received reports that Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto are saying that it doesn’t matter how many orders I obtain. I may obtain a million orders but they will never allow me back to Kenya. My message to Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto is this, Kenya does not belong to you and I’ll be back. Sorry.”

“As soon as I can go. I know my wife will not be happy to hear that but some of these things you have to decide how you want to live your life and the legacy you want to leave behind. As we speak, my lawyers have filed a petition today,” Mr Miguna further stated.

He said his team of lawyers has moved to the High Court to seek his exoneration from claims that he had been deported so that he can return to Kenya as quickly as possible.

Calling upon the international community to increase tension on the Kenyan government to appreciate the rule of law and immediate freedom, Dr Miguna said western law that tends to be champions of democracy, liability and press freedom have resulted to paying lip service to the importance of these values.

“These so-called western government should do more than just paying lip service to these things,” he added.

He insisted that his message to the refugee flow is to remain organised, focused and fearless.

Dr Miguna also added that his recent argument with the government should serve as a warning to the people in diaspora to take an interest in what is going on back at home and Kenya belongs to all of us.
