NAIROBI—Opposition leaders Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula have released a statement after Raila’s oath-taking ceremony at Uhuru Park.

The principals said they are still united in the NASA coalition despite skipping the ‘swearing in’ of Raila Odinga.

In a statement issued after the ‘swearing in’ ceremony, the three opposition co-principals did not explain why they were a no-show at the ‘inauguration’ of Mr. Odinga as the people’s president.

The three opposition leaders said the NASA Summit will meet within two days, to address the “immense challenges facing this country”.

“Yesterday, 29 January 2018 as the four NASA Principals we had a lengthy meeting where we revisited the controversial Election of 8th August 2018, which was nullified by the Supreme Court, as well as the boycotted election of 26 October 2017 and our reform agenda and in particular electoral justice, among other important issues.

“We agreed to meet again this morning. However, due to circumstances beyond our comprehension and control, the four of us did not assemble as planned,” read the statement.

NASA supporters have expressed disappointment at Kalonzo, Wetangula and Mudavadi for skipping the much hyped event, saying it was ” betrayal.”

Shortly after he returned from Germany where he was attending to his ailing wife, Kalonzo renewed the call for negotiations with the Jubilee leaders and later supporting the swearing of Raila as president.
