NAIROBI—Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has argued that NASA leader Raila Odinga embarrassed himself in front of his supporters and the world by agreeing to take an illegal presidential oath.

Speaking to the press, Duale laughed off  Odinga’s Tuesday swearing-in terming it a joke of the year.

“That was purely an affair of the Orange Democratic Movement. It can best be described as an ODM political rally. It has no consequence whatsoever since President Uhuru Kenyatta is legally in office,” said Duale.

He made these sentiments because Raila’s deputy Kalonzo Musyoka alongside Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula skipped the ceremony.

The majority leader lauded Kalonzo Musyoka for snubbing the event, saying this was a clear indication that the event in itself was illegal.

He added that Raila is politically dead after he took an oath of office. Duale said that the decision of the National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate to take an oath of office is unconstitutional.

“Raila Odinga finally buried himself politically on Tuesday after taking the illegal presidential oath and he should retire from politics and save himself from more embarrassments,” stated the MP.

Duale asked NASA supporters to move on with their lives saying that they stand to gain nothing holding on to Raila  and it was time for Kenyans to put aside their tribal differences and focus on building the country.
