WAJIR—Two day after he was endorsed by section of Wajir South elders, renowned international journalist-cum politician Mohamed Adow has today held his first public rally.

In a post shared to his Facebook page, Mohamed Adow thanked the people and the Sultanate who gave him the mantle to lead Wajir South.

“First, I would like to thank the almighty Allah for the guidance and who brought us this far,” Adow stated.

“Secondly, I wish to thank Nour Odowa and his Maqabul Council of Elders for endorsing me on 4/1/2022 to run for the Wajir south parliamentary seat,” he added. Mohamed said that it was “through their wisdom and guidance that brought us this far.”

Mohamed is set to launch his bid soon, according to people close to him who spoke to Kulan Post, adding that “he has to clear some internal mess before he reaches out to other clans for support,” they included.

Adow also thanked the rest of the Wajir South residents “for their warm wishes and compliments.”

“It’s through your unyielding support that we have reached this far, I’m always indebted to you. To my many friends all over the world who sent their warm congratulatory messages through their social media platforms, I salute you brothers and sisters,”

Elders endorsement is vital in Nothern Kenya politics. It’s locally known as Negotiated Democracy, a process highly critisised but effectively successful.
