NAIROBI—Attorney General Githu Muigai has resigned, President Uhuru Kenyatta has tweeted afternoon on Tuesday.
Muigai was replaced with Judge Paul Kihara as the chief government legal advisor.
President Uhuru Kenyatta confirmed the resignation on his Twitter account, saying he regretted the resignation and thanked him for his service.
Muiga was nominated for the post six years ago.
