TANA RIVER—Tana River County governor retired major Dhadho Godhana has raised concern over business cartels carrying out massive land grabbing in his county.

Godhana said that the cartels are collaborating with some business tycoons to buy land that belongs to the Tana River community at a cheap price and sell later at a higher price in a scheme meant to benefit the tycoons.

Last week residents in Bamba, Tana River County clashed over the land grabbing issue where one person succumbed to injuries and scores wounded. This was between the Somalis and the so called Malakote who live at the county.

The governor issued a warning to those involved in the matter urging that his government will not spare anyone.

“I am well informed and aware of those involved and it’s high time you stop these horrendous actions or otherwise my government will not spare anyone.” Said Godhana.

Speaking at a thanksgiving function near his county where he later held a rally the governor said that some of the chiefs and their assistants were working along with these cartels.

Mr. Dhadho instructed all ward and sub county administrators to carry out investigations or rather audit on all lands that are suspected to have been grabbed.

He further said anyone who will claim that certain land belongs to him or to a certain community should visit his office.

“Let’s avoid inter clashes between us if there is any issue on our lands come to my office”. He noted.
