NAIROBI—Going to Somalia? You can now book your hotel room anywhere you are. This was after the online hotel booking portal Jovago.com added hotels in Somalia to its entries, making the hospitality industry in the war-torn country available on the internet.
The signing comes at a time when the global hospitality industry is shifting gear in response to the e-commerce wave sweeping through the sector. Speaking in Nairobi, the Managing Director of Jovago.com Estelle Verdier expressed optimism, saying the hospitality industry in Somalia has attracted the attention of new visitors owing to its rebuilding and reconstruction.
“Jovago therefore, is seeking to align Somalia’s hotel sector proportionately with new age customer trends and purchasing decisions,” the Mr. Verdier said.
Somalia’s capital Mogadishu has opened to the rest of the world when Liquid Telecom introduced the country’s first fiber optics broadband.
