Kulan PostDeputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu has on Tuesday been arrested over alleged corruption.
Judge Mwilu was picked at the Supreme court in Nairobi and taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for questioning.
Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji has called for a press conference to address the matter.
Reports indicate that the judge had been reported by the Kenya Revenue Authority to Mr Haji over the suspicious movement of large sums of money in and out of bank accounts.
The judge faces numerous counts of stealing, abuse of office and unlawful failure to pay taxes.
Justice Mwilu has been linked to transactions involving the collapse of Imperial Bank.
In October 2015, Imperial Bank revealed that up to Sh34 billion of shareholder deposits had gone missing. This was followed by its collapse.
Kenyans on twitter have applauded the move, terming it as a new phase by President Uhuru Kenyatta in consolidating his legacy.

Arrest of Deputy CJ Philomena Mwilu may be part of the "We will fix the Judiciary" fad which commenced with budget cuts. But it could also be an open show of might to tell Bill that if the second in command at Judiciary can be arrested then the second in Executive is not immune!
