WAJIR—Police arrested two Wajir MCA’s Thursday morning.

Hadado MCA and his Wagalla counterpart were escorted from the a assembly premises by security officers belived to be from the Directorate of the Criminal Investigation.

According to representatives who spoke to Kulan Post, the MCA’s left crisis meeting together with other representatives at Hotel Mid Point.

They recorded statement and their fingerprints captured as the assembly speaker targets more representatives in swoop.

Three-hour standoff ensued at the Wajir County Assembly chambers Wednesday afternoon after the speaker ordered the security officers manning the Marinin gate to deny a representative from accessing the building.

Supporters of the Wagalla MCA, Abdi Hassan Ahmed clashed with the security forces. The police engaged the public in running battles before they were dispersed using tear-gas.

Five people were injured in the clash among them a freelance cameraman who sustained head injury.

Members of the assembly engaged in fistfight the previous day after they got wound that the speaker, Ibrahim Yakub was in town despite official records showing his travel arrangement at the International Trade Fair in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

“He (Speaker) is not supposed to be here (assembly). He is formally away in Tanzania,” Wagalla MCA said at the gate of the assembly chambers where he was protesting his denial of entry into the chambers.

Sources privy to the stand-off say the speaker complained that the MCA was planning to disrupt house business in continuation of the morning incident where he forcefully occupied the chair of the speaker in contravention of the Standing Orders.

MCA Abdi Hassan complained that on Tuesday, the Sergeant-at-arms brandished his pistol at the chambers while trying to protect the speaker. However, the assembly is yet to react to the allegation.
